The UPEACE NY Writers Collective creates opportunities for young people to explore peace through writing, storytelling, and creative expression. Its annual Write Peace Contest invites high school students to share their perspectives through poetry, reflective writing, and creative work.
About Writer’s Collective
The UPEACE NY Writers Collective brings together writing, creativity, and peacebuilding to amplify the voices of young people.
In collaboration with the University for Peace (UPEACE), the Writers Collective hosts the annual Write Peace Contest, inviting high school students to explore what peace means to them and to their communities through poetry, reflective essays, and creative writing.
The initiative encourages young writers to imagine new possibilities, question assumptions, engage with themes such as dialogue, empathy, human connection, and conflict transformation, and contribute their own perspectives to a broader global conversation about peace.
The 2026 Write Peace Contest offered a $500 first prize in each category, with submissions closing on June 28, 2026.
Through the Writers Collective, UPEACE NY seeks to cultivate storytelling as a tool for reflection, connection, and positive change while creating spaces in which emerging voices can be heard.
